The beginning of everything
Ocean Clock was born in 2015 from a family project in Hossegor, in the heart of the Landes region. The idea came from an old tide clock, given to Stéphanie's parents, oyster farmers , which we wanted to modernize without betraying its spirit. Ocean Clock was born in 2015 from a family project in Hossegor, in the heart of the Landes region. The idea came from an old tide clock, given to Stéphanie's parents, oyster farmers , which we wanted to modernize without betraying its spirit. Our first pieces, handcrafted in our living room, quickly won over customers with their simplicity and usefulness.
From tide clocks to timekeeping clocks, barometers, thermometers, and lunar clocks, we've developed a range that reflects our values: simplicity, quality, and authenticity. In 2022, we're moving into a new workshop in Hossegor.
Ocean Clock, supported by a close-knit local team, is now distributed in more than 250 stores. Since 2025, our commitment has been recognized by the Made in France label.
Our story is that of an artisanal brand attached to its roots, which defends a useful and sustainable design, inspired by the strong link between nature and know-how.
Our creations are available for purchase in just a few clicks on our online store. Each order is carefully prepared in our workshop to guarantee fast and accurate delivery throughout France and other selected countries.
Our commitment to quality is reflected in the rigorous selection of our materials: the beech wood used for our contours is chosen for its beautiful grain and robustness. Each piece is assembled by hand to ensure meticulous finishing. The precision of our measuring instruments relies on a reliable mechanism, whether indicating high or low tide, temperature, or the phases of the moon.
Our approach also relies on proximity: we work as much as possible through short supply chains, with local partners. This allows us to offer excellent value for money, while preserving the authenticity and sustainability of our products.

DOES A TIDE CLOCK WORK?

On the map opposite, we have listed the geographical areas where the tides are semi-diurnal and therefore suitable for tide clocks.
Tide clocks are designed for coastal areas with a semi-diurnal tide cycle, meaning two high tides and two low tides each day.
As shown on this map, they are particularly well-suited for the Atlantic coast, but also work in other parts of the world where this tide pattern occurs.
