Hygrometers
Long reserved for purely technical instruments, the hygrometer is reimagined here as a decorative piece in its own right.
Inspired by the world's climates and the spirit of the ocean, the Ocean Clock hygrometer combines soft curves, natural wood and minimalist design to blend effortlessly into any interior.
Hygrometers
Ocean Clock crafts decorative mechanical hygrometers without batteries, hand-assembled in France at its workshop in Hossegor.
Following the tide clock, barometer and thermometer, Ocean Clock reimagines another everyday measuring instrument: the indoor hygrometer. Useful for monitoring the humidity level of a room, it becomes a genuine decorative object, designed to blend naturally into a warm, elegant interior inspired by the seaside.
Our wooden hygrometer allows you to read the relative humidity of the air using a clear dial and a precise hand. With no screen, batteries or rechargeable power source, it provides a simple, durable and intuitive way to measure humidity. Combining the functions of a wall-mounted hygrometer, a decorative hygrometer and a practical accessory, it fits perfectly in a living room, bedroom, office, hallway or wine cellar.
Why choose a battery-free hygrometer?
A battery-free hygrometer operates using a mechanical movement, without any electrical power supply. Unlike a digital model, it requires no battery replacement, charging or connection to mains power. It is a simple, durable and practical solution for monitoring air humidity on a daily basis.
A no-battery hygrometer also offers a softer aesthetic, free from visible digital displays. At Ocean Clock, we have chosen a hand-operated hygrometer design to recapture the charm of traditional measuring instruments while adapting it to contemporary interior décor.
In a home, a humidity level between 40% and 60% is generally considered comfortable. In a wine cellar, the ideal ambient humidity is usually around 70%, helping to ensure optimal bottle preservation.
Our hygrometers: the Ocean Clock design
Our hygrometers embody the distinctive Ocean Clock aesthetic: soft lines, a clean dial, coastal-inspired colours and a carefully crafted wooden frame. Each decorative hygrometer is designed as a seaside-inspired décor piece, bringing both practicality and elegance to your home.
Available in several signature shades, the Ocean Clock hygrometer complements a wide range of interiors: coastal décor, holiday homes, contemporary spaces, Scandinavian-style interiors or more natural settings. The wood adds warmth and authenticity, while the minimalist dial ensures a clear reading of relative humidity.
The droplet-shaped spacers located on the back of the hygrometer create a slight gap between the instrument and the wall. This design encourages natural air circulation behind the piece, ensuring more accurate and stable humidity readings.
How to choose an indoor hygrometer
When choosing an indoor hygrometer, several factors should be considered: readability, operating mechanism, aesthetics and intended use. A mechanical hygrometer is ideal if you are looking for a simple, reliable and long-lasting instrument. A wall-mounted hygrometer is perfect for a discreet and elegant installation in a living space.
If you are looking for a product that is both functional and decorative, a wooden hygrometer is an excellent choice. It allows you to monitor humidity levels while blending naturally into your interior design. In a home, bedroom or living area, it helps you keep an eye on indoor air comfort. In a wine cellar, it enables you to monitor ambient humidity, an important factor in preserving bottles under the best possible conditions.
Ocean Clock also offers a personalised hygrometer. You can have a name, date, location or message inscribed directly on the dial, within the iconic droplets featured on this hygrometer. A unique way to transform a measuring instrument into a meaningful and personal gift.
Handcrafted in France
Each Ocean Clock hygrometer is hand-assembled in our workshop in Hossegor, in the Landes region of south-west France. Our French manufacturing process is built upon traditional craftsmanship, precise workmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
We carefully work with wood and collaborate with local partners across the Aquitaine region for certain technical components. Our dials are printed in Bordeaux, and many elements are manufactured or prepared in our workshop using CNC machinery, presses, 3D printers, injection moulding equipment and engraving tools.
Choosing an Ocean Clock hygrometer means choosing a useful, decorative and durable product made in France, thoughtfully designed to accompany everyday life with simplicity and elegance.
